·
All organizations are useful, its development depends on the compromise
and interest of thei affiliates.
· I suppose that
there will be people which shares my opinion when I say that IKKA Spains
doesn't work well. Save yourself, but there are certain senior that think
they're gods for being in the directive, so LET'S SEE IF WE UNDERSTAND
THAT FOR SOMETHING TO EVOLVE YOU HAVE TO FEEL IT, BELIEVE IN IT AND TRANSMIT
IT and not sweep only home, and if not do look at the trajectory from the
point they took office and see whether they have grow or more likely half
the people has left. AN ASSOCIATION IS FOR THE BENEFIT OF ITS ASSOCIATES,
and if I pay and annual fee and then I have to pay for a semminar, or for
a master from outside of Spain, what is the fee then for? Because if it's
for the insurance the Social Security is cheaper, even a private company.
· American kenpo
americano, is one of the best, but there are people that doesn't study
all the program and then teach all they know, but as if they knew the whole
syllabus, they fool a lot of people and the worst is that they distort
our art.
· Hate to see Kenpo
so fragmented. It seeems every new group is a breakaway from anothernew
group.
· There ought to
be a better union among different associations. We would strenghten more
this martial art, evolve, innovate and learn from others. There're many
interests created and a lot of pride.
· Here in Mexico
there are some masters that they alone put on rank!! There's one that in
only 3 years went from 2 to 5 degree!!
Believe it!! www.kenpo.com.mx
francisco soto!!..I think
this isn't fair! and it's not fair because the image of true practitioners
is stained...
· I think that the
curren IKKA board in Spain is lacking as they have it set as a private
club in which the gyms in Madrid are the ones profiting mainly, and they
still have an anual quota set to which, personally me, I haven't seen any
benefit, when for taking part in a semminar given by its President I had
to pay a quantity I didn't feel was fair.
· That there is far
too many associations is just incorrigible. For that, we should get organized
to be able to work together in tourneys and semminars.
· It's a pity that
kenpo is in the state it is, so disgregated and with so many gods and saviors,
that in the end are the ones destroying kenpo because they all feel are
in possession of the truth and they don't know how to surrender and recognized
the wisdom of true masters. I think that the direction which we, all kenpoists,
have to follow is the NON contempt of the other fellow who practices the
same art but with a different master.
· Mr. Paul Mills
continues to develop new technieques. He was a personal sudent of
ed parker for ten years, so he brings to the AKKI the knowledge Mr. Parker
taught. The AKKI has very cool club and knive curriculms. We constantly
learn new and better ways to move. The focus is on innovation.
I like that the high ranking black belts don't think they know it all,
they are still students too.
· I have trained
in kenpo from the day Mc Sweeney introduced it to Ireland in 1963,
and since the mid seventies have been disheartened at the speed which some
individuals have been graded, and in recent years annoyed at high grades
doing techniques that would not work at the seminar or in the street. they
seem to concentrate on counter moves and get carried away with complicated
moves and ignore the initial attack. I honestly do not believe they could
block a punch let alone a bottle to the face, what good are the complicated
moves then. Tom Jordan.
· Anybody knows why
in the Spanish Federation they don't know the whole program, they do Karate
sparring, have dropped the purple belt and two brown degrees, do't do seminars
and convalidate degrees from other systems? What they do is Kenpo Karate?
Thank you.
· THE TROUBLE WITH
FILLING IN A FORM LIKE THIS IS THAT IT DOES NOT GIVE A FAIR REPRESENTATION
OF REASONS PEOPLE DO NOT LIKE TO TRAIN WITH EACH OTHER ANY MORE,
I WILL LIST A FEW:
EGO'S
MONEY
LACK OF INFORMATION GIVEN
BY THE SO CALLED "MASTERS"
THE PROMISE OF MORE
DIFFERING STANDARDS OF BLACK
BELT
I HAVE TRAINED WITH ALOT
OF THE PEOPLE YOU LIST ON YOUR SITE, OR HAVE FRIENDS WHO HAVE. FOR THE
MOST PART THEY DISAPPIONT YOU WHEN ACTUALLY SEE THEM MOVE, IF THEY EVER
DO.
I HAVE BEEN BURNED BY THESE
SO CALLED "MASTERS" AND WOULD NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH ANY OF THEM
ANYMORE.
I HAVE TRAINED WITH MANY
OF THE SPANISH WHEN THEY HAVE COME TO JERSEY IN THE PAST AND THEY WERE
OF A VERY HIGH STANDARD. IT IS TIME THAT THE INSTRUCTORS IN EACH COUNTRY
STARTED TO TAKE CONTROL OF THERE OWN DESTINY AND TEACH THE ART AS THEY
SEE IT. WE ARE ALL CAPABLE MARTIAL ARTIST IN OUR OWN RIGHT. IF PEOPLE ARE
PREPARED TO PUT THE RANK OF AN INSTRUCTOR ON, THEN THEY
ACT LIKE ONE.
WELL YOU DID ASK!!
REGARDS ROY TRAVERT
· I have read above
that a practitioner has gone from 2nd degree black to 5th degree in two
years, since here in spain there's who has gone from 2nd degree brown to
4th degree black in three years and a have approximately. So don't worry.
· I HAVE SOMETIMES
HEARD PEOPLE FROM THE FEK TALKING BAD ABOUT EVERYBODY (IKKA, LTKKA...)
EVERYBODY WHO ISN'T THEMSELVES. HOWEVER, I AM CERTAIN THAT AT ORGANIZATIONAL
AND MARTIAL LEVEL THEY'RE PART OF THE WORST I'VE SEEN. IN MY SCHOOL I HAVE
NEVER HEARD ANYONE CRITIZISING OTHER MASTERS OR SCHOOLS, ALL THE CONTRARY,
MY TEACHER ALWAYS SAYS THAT WE TRAIN WITH EVERYBODY NO MATTER THEIR PATCH.
TOO MUCH CRITICISING BUT THEY LATER COME TO LEARN AT THE lt AND YOU'VE
ALWAYS BEEN RECEIVED AS FRIENDS. JEALOUSY IS SO BAD FRIENDS OF THE FEK...
DON'T WORRY THAT WHEN YOUR DEPARTMENT FAILS, WE'LL STILL BE RECEIVING YOU
OPEN HEARTEDLY. REGARDS TO ALL AND LET'S SEE IF FOR ONCE WE CAN TRAIN TOGETHER
FOR THE BENEFIT OF KENPO KARATE BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT WE ALL WANT. LET'S
STOP CRITICISING AND LET'S TRAIN SOME MORE. ME THE FIRST.
· SOME OF THE WELL
KNOWNED MASTERS NAMED FROM HERE, FROM SPAIN, A FEW ARE SAVED, LIKE Benedicto
Rosales, the Luelmo brothers, and a few else. THEY'RE TRULY GREAT MASTERS.
MANY OTHERS DON'T KNOW KENPO BUT ACT LIKE GREAT MASTERS. I ONLY SAY JEALOUSY
IS SO BAD. AS MUCH AS WE LIKE ANYTHING, ALWAYS, AND LET'S BE CLEAR, THERE
WILL BE SOMEONE BETTER THAN THE OTHER. *
· I THINK THAT RELATING
TO ACTIVITIES IT WOULD BE TRULY POSITIVE BETWEEN STUDENTS AND INSTRUCTORS
TO SHOW THE SPIRIT OF THE SPORT, AS SOME HAVE IT STAINED WITH THEIR ARROGANCE.
I AGREE WITH SOME COMMENTS REGARDING SOME "MASTERS"; I WANT KENPO TO BE
THE MARTIAL ART THAT WAS TO BE STABLISHED WITH ALL ITS CONTENTS. WITH ITS
TECHNIQUES, ITS UNIQUE BELT SYSTEM, ITS OWN BASE THAT ALTHOUGH BACKED BY
OTHER MARTIAL ART IN THE FEDERATION IN THE EXAMS IT IS OUR BASES.
Let's rescue American Kenpo
or Ed Parker kenpo from piracy
· The Elite-Fighters
Legacy Kenpo section has the best material for Ed Parker's American Kenpo.
They have the material for the 24 technique system in Ed Parker's books.
www.elite-fighters.com
is great
· Greetings to all
the people of LTKKA and specially the students of Carlos Jódar in
Gym Kolumnas
· In Spain there
is no "master" of Ed Parker's Kenpo Karate, there are professors and instructors.
The Master title is obtained with the 8th degree black belt (INFINITE INSIGHTS
INTO KENPO, ED PARKER, volume 2, page 10).
The highest ranks in Spain
are: José Enrique Hernández (6th degree IKKA), José
María Gutiérrez (5th degree IKKA). Both of them have obtained
one by one all of the degrees inside IKKA, from 1st degree to the one they
have currently, with no jumps. Independently from the degrees they may
have had previously in other federation. In IKKA Españanthere's
no convalidation, you have to obtain them one by one.
In the other hand, Ed Parker's
Kenpo is not a japanese system, so the term "dan" shouldn't be used. The
correct term is degree (same reference as above).
The important thing to learn
the system is training adequately with qualified professors and instructors,
that is, that have the requested knowledge. For the students to learn the
same, Ed Parker made a program with the requirements for each belt (basic
elements, techniques, sets and forms). To get each belt it is required
to learn techniques (10 for yellow, 24 for the rest), forms (1 per belt)
and sets (1 or 2 per belt). Moreover, such as Ed Parker left the program,
the techniques, forms and sets for each belt have their own reason to be
as they are. This implies that the program must not be taught in any order
other than that stablished by Grand Master Ed Parker, because the system
will be broken. The number of techniques per belt cannot be reduced per
se, nor the order in which they have to be taught modified, neither sets
and forms can be dropped. To modify the program it should be completely
restructured for the techniques, sets and forms to be related, as well
as their order. If this wasn't the case, the sense the Grand Master wanted
it to have would be lost. It could be done, but not in a day and much less
by people who are not real Masters (above 8th degree) and first generation
students of Ed Parker, with which they would have drink from the generating
source.
A reference to the whole
programme and the explanaition of the followed order can be found in INFINITE
INSIGHTS INTO KENPO, ED PARKER, volume 5, pages 67-88, taking into account
that Ed Parker made some small modifications afterwards, changing the position
of certain sets. In spanish, the program to black belt can be found in
www.kenpoestudio.com
(techniques, forms and sets for each belt).
· "Kenpo is neither
yours nor mine, it's ours" Parker told, few heard him....

· I find the WKKA
a very nice association. Its annual camps are a blast.
· It's a great idea
this of generating a survey that touches elements which are important to
ma practitioners
· Master is a general
term in many ways. My Instructor is a sixth under Mr. Planas and
I would not leave him to train under one of the "masters".
